BIOGRAPHY OF H.E. ABDUL FARID ZIKRIA 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

H.E Abdul Farid Zikria presented his credentials to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoom, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Dubai, on February 15th, 2016 as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Arab Emirates.
Ambassador Zikria also served as the first full-fledged Afghan Ambassador to the UAE from 2005 to 2009. Prior to 2005, Ambassador Zikria performed as the Chief of Protocol at the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2002 to 2004.
From 1991-2001, Ambassador Zikria worked in the United States of America as Senior Nuclear Engineer. He performed over a dozen safety assessments of nuclear power plants in the U.S. and other European and Asian countries.
Following his departure from the UAE in June of 2009, Ambassador Zikria joined the private sector. He established one of the first Afghan owned and Afghan based engineering firms specializing in water and energy. For over seven years Ambassador Zikria served as the Founder and President of the OBO Water & Energy Engineering.
Ambassador Zikria received his B.S. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland in the U.S.
Ambassador Zikria was born in Kabul, Afghanistan on November 1st, 1959. He is fluent in English and speaks French, Turkish and Russian. He belongs to one of the prominent and distinguished families of Afghanistan with a strong diplomatic background and has 4 children.
